Presbyterian Marriage Encounter is a non-profit
corporation. It is staffed completely with volunteer clergy and
lay couples who donate their time, their energy, their talents, and
often their financial resources. No one involved with Presbyterian
Marriage Encounter, including the presenting teams, receives any
financial compensation for their efforts. The many, many couples who serve in a myriad of ways all serve because
of their belief in and commitment to the ministry of Marriage Encounter. |
...no paid staff! |
|
|
...no corporate
offices! |
There are no corporate, regional,
or local offices for Presbyterian Marriage Encounter. Our offices
reside in the homes of volunteers across the world where the materials
necessary for planning and conducting Marriage Encounter weekends are
stored in boxes lovingly decorated with Marriage Encounter decals. |
|
|
Couples are asked to pay a
non-refundable registration fee as their commitment to attend a
weekend. On the weekend, the costs associated with conducting the
weekend are explained to the couples who are then asked to prayerfully
consider making a donation to Presbyterian Marriage Encounter. |
...funded solely
with donations! |
|
|
...covers weekend
costs! |
Presbyterian
Marriage Encounter incurs many costs. These include costs associated with the
facilities where weekends are conducted and the various administrative
costs such as postage, telephone, printing, and team training.
Donations are used to cover all of these costs. |
|
|
Donations
are also used to spread Presbyterian Marriage Encounter to places where
weekends are not currently available. With the help of loving
volunteer couples, donations help cover the costs of starting new
Marriage Encounter communities. Within the past several years, the
Spokane, WA, and the Tidewater, VA communities have been started and are
now presenting weekends to couples in their areas. |
...new communities! |
|
|
...international
outreach! |
In the past,
Presbyterian Marriage Encounter has presented weekends in Peru and
in Northern Ireland. In 2000, Presbyterian Marriage Encounter
presented the first Weekend in Kenya. Three
weekends were presented in Kenya in August of 2001. We also have hopes of
presenting weekends in Korea sometime in the
future. |
